HI! My name is Lizzie*. I am 37 years old. I have 3 children (Austin*, Isabelle* and Rykley*) and a wonderful husband, David*. I am 5'1" and 136 lbs. I decided to give the 17 day diet by Dr. Moreno a try.
WHY?
Here's my story: I am slightly overweight, but I used to be way more overweight. Three 1/2 years ago, I weighed in at 169. I was a size 12/14, mostly 14!! It all started when I was going to a girl's camp as an advisor. We were supposed to wear pants the whole time. It was summer and I hadn't worn pants for awhile. I started trying on my jeans. To my horror, none of them fit!! They were all size 12's. I went shopping at a used clothing store. Why used? I WASN'T going to stay fat. AND, I didn't want to take new jeans camping! I bought a few pairs of fat jeans and went to camp. We walked a lot and ate really well. And I mean well as in good foods. Lots of yummy fresh fruits and veggies. There were hikes and walking trails, and I was sorely out of shape. When I got home from camp, I had already lost a few pounds. WOOHOO! That was in August of 2008. I started working out more and eating better. I wasn't really on a specific diet, but I was losing nicely. About 3 years ago, I had gone down to 143 pounds. I was SO proud of myself. About the same time I started losing weight, my husband started running and stopped going out to eat for lunch. He lost about 30 pounds rather quickly if you ask me. Everybody was asking him what he did to lose weight. Wow he looked great. Well, gosh, I lost close to the same weight. Hardly anybody noticed. I was a little dis-heartened. Well, he kept going till he had lost about 50 and I stayed right where I was. :(
Well summer of 2009, I got pregnant with my 3rd child. I did really well with the weight gain. I only got to about 165lbs. I had gestational diabetes, and lost a few pounds once I started following the diabetes diet. After I had Rykley, I dropped down to about 137 pretty quickly. I was feeling good! I was 6 pounds lighter than I had been. The problem was, everytime I had a baby, I would drop down into the 130's. Then the weight gain started. This time, I vowed that was not going to happen! I did a no sugar challenge with some of my friends. We went 72 days without treats. No candy, cookies, cake, etc. I even did this over my birthday and anniversary. No cake for me. Didn't really lose anything, but I was feeling good. Toward the end of our no sugar challenge, I started the HCG diet. I did the drops version. Wow, the weight started coming off! After a few weeks, I was down to 123. I hadn't seen that number since before kids!! I was in a solid size 8. Happy was I!
Then, I got off the diet. I could have sugar again. And I did. LOTS. I went a little crazy over the holidays and crept back up pound by pound. Up till last week I was hovering around 134. So, now I am 136 after the weekend. SHEESH! Can a girl get a break?
On Friday March 4th 2011, I heard about the 17 day diet. My friend's sister had lost 22 pounds already on it and came to visit and brought the book. I sped read and copied down the foods you could eat on each cycle and gave the book back. I liked it! It sounded simple enough. It tells you exactly what you can eat. The body confusion part made sense to me. I decided that I would have whatever I wanted over the weekend and start on Monday the 7th. Today.
I started looking on YouTube to see if anyone had documented their success on this diet. I found a bunch of people that had started a documentation, but didn't find much after the first couple weeks. I thought that maybe I should document my journey on a blog, since I'm not much of a video-er. I don't have any desire to be on YouTube! So, I want to hold myself accountable by putting my journey on a blog. Hopefully I won't peeter out like it seems so many others have.

I am not a tea drinker, so I bought the green tea with acai berry supplements. Not sure if that's allowed, but oh well, that's what I'm doing!
So, this is my day 1. You're supposed to be able to lose around 12 pounds on this first cycle. Who knows what it will be. Thank you for joining me on my EPIC ADVENTURE!!!
